Message from the President
I was returning from the 1998 Kyoto international medical conference on IP6 and Rice Components, when I turned to my colleague and stated that I’d never been as excited about a supplement as I was IP6. All the way from Japan back to Vancouver I could hardly contain myself and rambled on and on about the medical implications of this natural medicine. It wasn’t as though I hadn’t been excited about natural medicines in the past. For the previous 6 years, in addition to practicing I had been lecturing and helping with the initial introduction of several innovative, leading edge natural medicines such as glucosamine, black cohosh, and St. John’s Wort etc. Perhaps because of my family health history in which most of the women including my mother have had cancer, I couldn’t wait to spread the word of this simple, yet extraordinary rice extract.
At the Kyoto conference research was presented from many famed scientists. To name just a few there was Professor Lee Wattenberg, who is referred to as the “The Father of ChemoPrevention”, what a career he must have had. Then there was T Ishikawa, who was the Dean of Medicine at the University of Tokyo. The University of Tokyo is to Asia what Harvard is to America. However, the researcher who had the greatest impact on me was Dr. A. K. M. Shamsuddin, who is a professor at the University of Maryland and was the chairman of the Kyoto conference. Professor Shamsuddin’s pursuit of the truth, which required challenging the current dogma of the time and his innovative research has been an inspiration to me ever since. The societal implications of Professor Shamsuddin’s research are nothing short of remarkable. As an example, in addition to his pioneering work on IP6, he also invented a simple, inexpensive and minimally invasive cancer screening test that can detect several of the most common types of cancer (colon, lung, breast and prostate etc.) at the earliest stages. And of course the earlier a cancer is detected the greater the chance of survival. The frustrating thing is that the test is used in China for colorectal cancer screening, but is not available in the western world. There are a number of clinical trials proving that these tests work, and in one of the trials they had over 6000 patients! It is my opinion that it is simply illogical that these tests are not used. Governments need to take the lead and not wait for pharma companies to develop the technology, or at least work with them. It drives me crazy every time I see a patient that would have had a better chance of survival if only they had been diagnosed earlier.
Working closely with Professor Shamsuddin for several years is Ivana Vucenik PhD. She is now an associate director of the American Institute of Cancer Research. I first heard her speak in Kyoto as well, and in 2004 I coauthored a book with her on IP6. I was excited to coauthor the book, but at the same time saddened by the fact that the book was needed, as very little information on the health benefits of IP6 and inositol was circulating.
Hope is an essential component of medicine. And it is science that provides the foundation for that hope. There are several world renowned scientists working to reveal the multiple health benefits of IP6 and inositol. Based on this research, I truly believe that IP6 Enhanced is one of the most important nutritional supplements.
At Nutra Naturals we genuinely appreciate the opportunity to serve you. We are committed to sharing current information so that you can make informed health decisions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kim Vanderlinden |
